To secure the degree of freedom and facilitation in design of a front and a rear parts of a cleaning device for an automobile by reducing an error due to expansion of a cylindrical body in machining for reducing the diameter.
The cylindrical body is formed so that the rolling direction of a base material 21 having anisotropy coincides with the circumferential direction, and this cylindrical body is used for a cleaning device for an automobile such as a catalytic converter 10. The catalytic converter 10 includes: the cylindrical body 11 having a reduced diameter part 111; a catalyst carrier 12 as a cleaning body housed and fixed in the cylindrical body 11; a holding material 13 circumferentially provided to be wound around the periphery of the catalyst carrier 12 to hold the catalyst carrier 12 in the cylindrical body 11; a mesh ring 14 provided in each of both side ends of the cylindrical body 11 in the axial direction thereof; and an end member 15 provided in each of both the side ends of the cylindrical body 11 in the axial direction thereof.
