To provide a novel method of manufacturing a metal fitting with which a new pattern projection which prevents infiltration of rainwater or the like through the upper part of end face in the axial direction of the cylindrical metal fittings on the end face in the axial direction of the cylindrical fittings without impairing rotation checking function, by improving the degree of freedom in the design of the projection formed on the end face in the axial direction of the cylindrical metal fitting, without accompanying complication and an increase in the scale of working equipment.
A rolling-forming die 22 on which a circumferential direction forming groove 28 annularly extended in the middle portion in the direction of generating line of a forming surface 26 being an integral and tapered outer circumferential surface is formed and also a plurality of inclined direction forming grooves 30 extended in the direction of taper inclination of the forming surface 26 are formed on both sides of the inner and outer peripheries sandwiching the circumferential direction forming groove 28, is used. By rolling the forming surface 26 in the circumferential direction while pressing it against the end face in the axial direction by turning the small diameter side of the rolling-forming die 22 to the inner peripheral side of the cylindrical stock tube 14 and the large diameter side to the outer peripheral side and, by applying plastic working to the end face in the axial direction, annular water barrier projection and anti-slip projection are simultaneously formed.
