Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent clogging of thermal medium or reverse-flow of gas in response to a circulating amount of desired thermal medium or characteristics of raw material by a method wherein a down-comer size and the like are properly selected without arranging any thermal medium storing part in the down- comer.
CONSTITUTION: In an external circulation type fluidized bed furnace in which a lower end of a riser 1 is provided with an air blowing port and an external part of the riser 1 is provided with a feeding-out pipe 2 fed out of an upper end of the riser 1, a cyclon 5 for use in separating solid and gas arranged at the other end of the feeding-out pipe 2 and a down-comer 4 descending from the discharging part of the cyclon 5, it is assumed that a desired circulating amount of solid particles per sectional area of the riser is defined as Ws (kg/m2.s), a diameter of the down-comer is defined as (d), a diameter of the riser is defined as D, a ratio between these two values is defined as X (=d/D), resulting in that the value X is set within a range defined by Ws=12500X5-12080 X4+4370X3-600X2+36X and Ws=5800X4+1600X3-580X2+44X.
