To provide a method for manufacturing glass articles with which articles of a large and complicated shape can be formed, and articles obtained by the method.
The method of manufacturing glass ceramics comprises a process of preparing glass of particle, bead, microsphere or fiber form where the glass contains at least two kinds of metal oxides, 0 to less than 20 wt% of SiO2, 0 to less than 20 wt% of B2O3 and 0 to less than 40 wt% of P2O5, based on the weight of the glass, and the glass has a glass transition temperature Tg and a crystallization onset temperature Tx, and the difference between the glass transition temperature Tg and the crystallization onset temperature Tx is at least 25 K; a process of heating the glass at a temperature equal to or above Tg so that the particles, beads, microspheres or fibers coalesce to form a coalesced shape; and a process of heating the coalesced shape to form a glass ceramic comprising at least 1 vol.% of cristallites with an averaged size of less than 1 micrometer.
