To enhance the productivity of a hard coat film and the coat laminating workability by preventing with a simple method the rupture of a film caused by bending of a film end part by curing shrinkage at the time of thickening a hard coat layer.
A method for manufacturing a hard coat film is such that after at least one side of a roll-shaped transparent plastic film substrate 1 is coated with a hard coat layer forming material to be cured and to form a hard coat layer 2 of 15-50 μm in thickness, one end part or both end parts in a width direction of the substrate 1 is cut at the end part of a coating area of the hard coat layer forming material. Further, the method is constituted such that a layer having an antireflection function and/or a stain protection layer overlie/overlies the hard coat layer 2.
