Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing coke having strength higher than those of conventional cokes without increasing the binder loadings of the whole coal blend by adding a binder in an amount depending upon the inert constitution in coal and subjecting the blend to dry distillation in a coke oven to thereby control the reduction in coke strength due to the inert constitution in coal.

The method for manufacturing a high-strength coke comprises blending and grinding, or grinding and blending, one or two or more different grades of coal, drying and classifying the coal, selectively mixing a coarse coal having a particle diameter of 6.7 mm or greater with a binder preferably in an amount of 0.4-10 pts.mass based on the mass of the coarse coal, and charging the mixture together with other coal into a coke oven.
