To manufacture a honeycomb sintered body having a sufficiently high yield by preventing the occurrence of damage to the honeycomb sintered body upon separating the honeycomb sintered body fixed by sintering from a pedestal.
This method for manufacturing the honeycomb sintered body is provided with a sintering step for sintering a green compact having a partitioning wall formed with a plurality of flow passages extended in the vertical direction and containing a ceramic raw material, and obtaining a honeycomb sintered body. This sintering step has: a step (A) for mounting a green compact on the pedestal having a partitioning wall formed with a plurality of flow passages extended in the vertical direction and containing a ceramic raw material; a step (B) for sintering the pedestal and the green compact mounted thereon; and a step (C) for separating the honeycomb sintered body and the pedestal after sintering. In step (C), an impact is imparted from the side of the pedestal to the pedestal while applying a force to the pedestal in a direction moving away from the green compact.
