Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure manufacturing method which inspects defect in a sealed part of any kind of honeycomb structures, and improves inspection accuracy.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure manufacturing method includes: a molding process which molds a ceramic raw material to manufacture a honeycomb molding with a cell barrier for forming a plurality of cells as fluid passages; a sealing process of forming a sealed part by sealing one end of the cells; and an inspection process which irradiates one end surface of the honeycomb molding with the sealed part formed therein with light, and image-processes image information obtained from light transmitting the sealed part and emitted from the other end surface, to inspect defect of the sealed part. The outer peripheral surface of the honeycomb molding with the sealed part formed therein is wrapped with sponge, to inspect the sealed part.
