Title:
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HYDROXYAPATITE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2012148903
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To utilize shells generated in cultivation of shellfish, particularly pearl oyster, more highly than conventionally.

It is found that if hydroxyapatite is manufactured by the following method, a hydroxyapatite having a high moisture retention can be manufactured from shells, which can be utilized more highly than in the conventional case where only part thereof is utilized, and if utilized, the utilization is in a low-degree one as a calcium agent. The method includes heating and reacting CaHPO4 and/or CaHPO4-H2O with shells and/or a powder of pearl oyster at 70 to 90°C for 1 to 24 hours, and drying the reaction product at ≤80°C for 3 to 72 hours.
