To provide a method for manufacturing an ink-jet recording medium which has an ink receptive layer excellent in abrasion resistance and achieves high printing density.
The method for manufacturing the ink-jet recording medium includes: an ink receptive layer forming process of forming a coating layer by applying at least one sort of a first coating solution containing inorganic particulates and a water-soluble resin onto a support; and a process of applying a second coating solution which contains poly(vinyl alcohol) and in which content of the inorganic particulate is 50 mass% or less to the poly(vinyl alcohol) (1) simultaneously with application of the first coating solution or (2) during drying the coating layer formed by the application of the first coating solution and before the coating layer shows decreasing drying.
