Abstract:
To easily form a heat insulating layer which is excellent in quality, specifically is free from peeling and the like, on the wall surface of a combustion chamber of an internal combustion chamber.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an internal combustion engine includes: an application step of applying a coating film material 30A as a material for a heat insulating layer to the wall surface of a combustion chamber; an assembly step of assembling a piston 5, cylinder forming members (3, 4) and an intake passage 20 while the coating film material 30A is unhardened; a connection step of connecting an air-fuel mixture forming device 40 which forms air-fuel mixture to the intake passage 20; a heating step of operating a heating device 43 heating intake air when a predetermined temperature parameter which enables fuel in the air-fuel mixture to condensate easier as the temperature of the intake air is lower, is lower than a predetermined threshold value; and a firing step of, after the operation of the heating device 43, heating and hardening the coating film material 30A by combusting the air-fuel mixture formed by the air-fuel mixture forming device 40 in a combustion chamber C thereby reciprocating the piston 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
