The invention provides, for example, a method for manufacturing a light-diffusing sheet material, the method including steps of preparing a composite plastic sheet comprising a plurality of polymer particles having a first refractive index embedded in a matrix of a polymeric transparent crosslinking plastic material having a second different refractive index, stretching the composite plastic sheet material within a plane at a temperature where the sheet is immediately deformable, and cooling the sheet material while being stretched, wherein the matrix is crosslinked after the above stretching.
