Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing a lubricant base oil, capable of manufacturing a lubricant base oil having high viscosity index in high yield.
One aspect of a method of manufacturing a lubricant base oil includes a process of preparing an oil to be treated having a content of an aromatic hydrocarbon of 10 to 25 mass% by conducting a hydrogenation treatment of a petroleum-derived hydrocarbon oil in an atmosphere at a hydrogen partial pressure of 11 to 20 MPa and a reaction temperature of 250 to 420°C, and a process of conducting a hydrogenation isomerization with which the number of carbon atoms in the carbohydrate in the oil to be treated is not varied, and only the molecular structure of the carbohydrate is varied.
