This machined cage for the cylindrical roller bearing comprises a pair of side plates 42, 44 and a plurality of columns 46 disposed in the circumferential direction and connecting the pair of side plates 42, 44 to each other. Pockets 48 are formed between the adjacent columns 46, and relief parts 50 are formed at four corners of the pockets 48. In this method of manufacturing the machined cage for the cylindrical roller bearing where as viewed from the cross section of the cage perpendicular to the axis thereof, side faces of the column 46 are formed in a circular arc shape, and the relief parts 50 are formed in parallel with the side faces of the column 46, a turning tool having a blade edge of contour same as that of the relief part 50 of each corner is moved in the X-axis direction and Y-direction in a state that a rake angle θ is constant at an arbitrary position in the thickness direction of the cage, after cutting the pocket 48, and the cage is rotated on its center in synchronization with the feed of the turning tool.
