To manufacturing a matured compost-like material which eliminates the problem of the generation of dust during use and has excellent handling quality by subjecting organic wastes to heating and drying, then to a heat treatment.

In the method of manufacturing the matured compost-like material by subjecting the organic wastes to the heating and drying, then to the heat treatment, fine powder is removed from the treated material obtained by the heat treatment and thins fine powder is mixed with the organic wastes and is treated. The apparatus for manufacturing the matured compost-like material has a heater 1 for subjecting the organic wastes to the heating and drying and the heat treatment, a fine powder remover 11 for removing the fine powder from the treated material discharged from the heater 1 and means for mixing the removed fine powder with the organic wastes.
