To provide, by targeting a metal-ceramic composite obtained by inducing the infiltration, in a non-compressed state, of a metal provided as a matrix into a preform including a ceramic as a reinforcement, a method for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite yielding a manufactured composite wherein pores and voids generated therein can be inhibited.
In the provided method for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite, a preform including a ceramic as a reinforcement is immersed within a molten metal provided as a matrix, whereas the preform into which the molten metal has infiltrated is drawn up from the molten metal in a state where a molten metal retention member is being mounted atop the preform into which the molten metal has infiltrated so as to induce the coagulation of the infiltrating molten metal.
