Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing simply and in a high yield an N-long chain acyl neutral amino acid of high purity useful for the manufacture of a detergent, and the like.
This method for manufacturing the N-long chain acyl neutral amino acid comprises reacting a neutral amino acid such as glycine, γ- aminobutyric acid, alanine with a saturated or unsaturated 8-22C fatty acid halide, where the reaction is carried out in the presence of a base in a mixture of at least one hydrophilic organic solvent selected from the group consisting of acetone, acetonitrile, a 3-4C secondary alcohol and a 4C tertiary alcohol (for example, isopropanol, sec-butanol, tert-butanol and the like) with water.
