To provide a nickel electrode capable of stably keeping high operating voltage even in high discharge rate, and providing high utilization rate of an active material.
A nickel sintered carrier is dipped in a mixture nitrate solution prepared by mixing aluminum nitrate and nickel nitrate by mol ratio of 10:90 through 40:60, to allow the mixed nitrate to be impregnated in pores of the nickel sintered carrier. Then the carrier is temporarily dried and dipped in a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution of 60-80°C to change nitrate to hydroxide by high temperature alkali treatment. The carrier is washed, then dried, dipped in the mixed nitrate solution again, temporarily dried, and treated with alkali at high temperature. A series of these processes are repeated several times to manufacture a nickel electrode including Ni(OH)2 active material similar to α-type including a predetermined amount of aluminum in the pores of the nickel sintered carrier.
