To provide a method for manufacturing a new olefin-based block-graft copolymer comprised of a polyolefin chain and a polar polymer chain by an industrially advantageous method.
The method of manufacturing the olefin-based block-graft copolymer comprises sequentially carrying out steps (1)-(3): (1) a step for converting a polyolefin having a group containing a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond or a group 13 element in the periodic table at an end of its main chain and/or in its side chain into a polyolefin containing a functional group (A) bearing an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom; (2) a step for converting the polyolefin containing the functional group (A) bearing an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom into a macro-initiator by imparting a group capable of initiating radical polymerization to the polyolefin; and (3) a step for imparting the polar chain to the polyolefin chain by polymerizing at least one radically polymerizable monomer selected from among organic compounds bearing at least one carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in the presence of the macro-initiator.
