Abstract:

To provide an optical film having improved uniformity in optical characteristics and suppressed interference irregularity by controlling thickness to be uniform.

The optical film is formed on a substrate 1 by applying a coating liquid 3 containing a non-liquid crystalline polymer and having 0.05 Pa s to 500 Pa s viscosity on a substrate 1 to form a coating film 2 while traveling the substrate 1, and blowing gas onto the coating film 2 along the traveling direction of the substrate to dry the film 2. The flow rate of the gas is preferably in a range of 8 m/sec to 50 m/sec, within ±30% variance of the flow rate in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction of the substrate.
