To provide a method for simply manufacturing an optical film having excellent transparency and brightness, without using a support film, and an optical film obtained by the same.
The method of manufacturing an optical film 10 is configured as follows. A first molding tool has a transfer surface with a concavo-convex optical pattern formed thereon. A second molding tool has a transfer surface with a concavo-convex optical pattern formed thereon and allows an active energy beam to transmit therethrough. A photosensitive resin whose viscosity at 25°C is 60-1,505 mPa s is arranged between the transfer surfaces of the first/second molding tools. The photosensitive resin is irradiated with an active energy beam from the side of the second molding tool so as to cure the photosensitive resin. Then, each molding tool is removed so as to transfer the optical pattern of each molding tool onto each of both sides of a cured material 11 of the photosensitive resin. The optical film 10 is obtained by the manufacturing method, and has the concavo-convex structures formed on each of both sides of the cured material 11 of the photosensitive resin.
