Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing an optical film or sheet with excellent heat resistance, and further excellent in transparency and optical characteristics.
The method for manufacturing the optical film or sheet is characterized by dissolving polycarbonate containing a recurring unit expressed by the general formula [I] (in the formula, R1, R2, R3, and R4 express hydrogen atoms and X expresses a 5-10C cycloalkylene group) with >30 mol% ratio in a solvent, by film-forming using the solution with ≥15 wt.% concentration of the polycarbonate with a casting method and forming the film or the sheet with 50-500 μm film thickness and ≤10 nm retardation(Re) by biaxially stretching the film if necessary.
