Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing an oxide superconductive wire rod, for suppressing reduction of critical current density by further reducing AC loss, and an oxide superconductive wire rod obtained thereby.

In the method for manufacturing the oxide superconductive wire rod, a plurality of single core wires each obtained by thermally treating a powder mainly composed of an oxide superconductive material and filling the resulting powder in a first sheath made of silver or silver alloy followed by drawing is inserted into a second sheath made of silver or silver alloy followed by drawing, whereby a multicore wire is made, and the multicore wire is then subjected to twisting, rolling and thermal treatment. The twisting includes repeating twisting and softening.
