To provide a method of manufacturing postcards including ink jet recording layers on communication faces, having excellent paper passing suitability within a printer and traveling performance in an automatic sorting machine after posting and achieving both ink jet printer printing suitability and pen-writing suitability on address faces.
In the method of manufacturing the postcards each including a paper base material having 170-300 g/m2 of basis weight, the communication face provided on one face of the paper base material and suitable for output of images in an ink jet recording method and the address face provided on the other face and suitable for output of characters in the ink jet recording method, the base material having 200 seconds or less of Oken type air permeability (JAPAN TAPPI No. 5) is used. By a coating machine, coating fluid for the communication face mainly composed of at least pigment and including a binder and an ink fixer is applied and dried to form the recording layer. Then, coating fluid for the address face including at least starch and polyvinyl alcohol is applied to the other face.
