To provide a new manufacturing method by which the occurrence of deformed particles is suppressed to the utmost and a nearly spherical positive charge type chemical toner having a sharp particle size distribution is manufactured, and to provide a new manufacturing method by which no emulsification loss is caused and a positive charge type chemical toner having the above properties is manufactured in a high yield.
The method of manufacturing a positive charge type toner comprise a step A of dissolving or dispersing a carboxylic polyester resin and a Nigrosine dye in an organic solvent to prepare a colored resin solution; a step B of forming fine particles of the colored resin solution in an aqueous medium by adding the aqueous medium to the colored resin solution in the presence of >1 to 3 equivalents of a basic compound based on the total amount of carboxyl groups in the polyester resin; a step C of forming agglomerates of the fine particles by sequentially adding a dispersion stabilizer and an electrolyte to the aqueous medium; a step D of removing the organic solvent in the agglomerates; and a step E of separating the agglomerates from the aqueous medium and drying these.
