Abstract:

To provide a method of manufacturing a retainer for a thrust roller bearing which enables the retainer to be manufactured with a good material yield.

The method of manufacturing a retainer for a thrust roller bearing includes: a blank working process, in which a retainer component material 110 is formed that has outer diameter side annular component parts 112 continuing at one side in width direction by a blanking process of a strip material 100 of strip steel sheet with a press, a plurality of pillar component parts 114 each of which makes one end continue in the longitudinal direction of the outer-diameter side annular component part 112 being separated by pockets component parts 113, and inner-diameter side annular component parts 111 continuing at the other end side of these pillar component parts 114; a rounding process, in which the retainer component material 110 is rounded in such a way that each inner-diameter side annular component part 111 of the retainer component material 110 is arranged at the inner-diameter side and both ends in the longitudinal direction of the retainer component material 110 are abutted; and a welding process, in which the abutted parts are welded.
