The method for manufacturing a rubber roll including an elastic layer on the outer circumference of a core metal comprises steps of curing a rubber composition including a halogen-free rubber base material on the outer circumference of the core metal to form an elastic body thereon; processing axial end portions of the elastic body; performing plate processing to the core metal provided with the processed elastic body; and polishing the surface of the elastic body after completion of the plate processing to form the elastic layer.
