Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a shaft-like component, allowing for high quality hardening by a simple constitution, with high productivity.SOLUTION: In hardening a revolving crank shaft 1 with exposure to laser beam B by laser irradiation means 12, fillet R parts 3a and 3b and a journal 2 are exposed to laser radiation by laser radiation means 12 using an H-shaped scanning pattern for continuously repeating the scanning of the fillet R parts 3a and 3b along circumferential direction and the journal 2. Heat is inputted to the fillet R parts 3a and 3b with continuous exposure to the laser beam B in circumferential direction, so that a desired hardening layer is secured in the fillet R parts 3a and 3b. On the other hand, excessive heat input to the journal 2 with exposure to the laser beam B is prevented, so that the occurrence of deformation or cracks in the shaft-like component is avoided. Consequently high quality hardening can be achieved.
