To provide a base material for a solid electrolyte having high mechanical strength, easy to handle, having high electrolyte holding ability, causing no liquid leakage and capable of producing a solid electrolyte of high electrical conductance, to provide such a solid electrolyte, and to provide a method for producing the base material.
This base material consists of a assembly comprising 60-95 mass% of polyvinylidene fluoride powder and 5-40 mass% of extra-fine fibers and/or pulpy matter. The solid electrolyte is composed of the base material and a non-aqueous solvent. The method for producing the base material comprises the following process: 60-95 mass% of the polyvinylidene fluoride powder and 5-40 mass% of aggregates of extra-fine fiber assembly and/or pulpy matter assembly are jetted from a nozzle into a gas by the action of a compressed gas and accumulated to form an assembly including the polyvinylidene fluoride powder.
