Abstract:

To provide a method of manufacturing a steel material having excellent surface properties capable of effectively reducing the generation ratio of scab which can not be reduced by the conventional countermeasures.

Regarding this method, a slab heated to ≥1,170°C by a heating furnace 7 is stopped at the surface of a carrier roll with which the slab first comes into contact, then, water is injected for a fixed time by a group of cooling apparatus 10, thereafter, it is carried, and, in the case the temperature of the slab is a prescribed temperature or above, using a water lubrication apparatus 11, water lubrication is performed to the contact boundary between the carrier roll 4 and the slab 6.
