Abstract:

To provide an automobile structural member having improved impact absorbing characteristics for effectively suppressing the crack of a base material during press molding or automobile collision without causing problems with the shape restriction of a product and troublesome work when applying higher strength to a steel plate.

Each wall face for the structural member having hat-type closed section construction uses the austenite stainless temper rolling steel plate as a raw material which contains C: 0.08 mass% or less, Si: 1.0 mass% or less, Mn: 2.0 mass% or less, Ni: 8.0-10.5 mass% and Cr: 18.0-20.0 mass% and to which cold temper rolling is applied at a rolling rate of 15-25%. It has strip-shaped low strength portions 21 formed perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the structural member at predetermined spaces in the longitudinal direction of the structural member.
