Abstract:

To provide a manufacturing method that can form a firmly hardened layer by the surface modification of a base material even for a structural member with a curved surface shape.

The manufacturing method includes: a laser irradiation step of irradiating a predetermined range of a substrate 53 formed of the base material with a laser beam L to heat the range to a temperature between 800°C or more where austenite reverse transformation is completed and less than a melting point of the substrate; and an aging heat treatment step of performing aging heat treatment to the substrate 53 that is irradiated with the laser beam L in the laser irradiation step to form the hardened layer 54 that is developed by precipitation hardening of the base material, in the predetermined range.
