Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thin-diameter wire of high- speed tool steel hardly causing voids in the center part of the material and excellent in the tool life of a cutting tool or the like.
SOLUTION: The thin-diameter wire of the high-speed tool steel is manufactured by drawing the high-speed tool steel in one-pass wire drawing process consisting of one-pass wire cold-drawing stage and an annealing stage. In the wire cold-drawing stage, the die angle of a die is defined as 10-20°, the length of bearing as (0.5+(wire drawing size D1/4)) to (2+(wire drawing size D1/2.5)) and also the reduction of area in the wire cold-drawing stage as 20-40%.
