To provide a method for manufacturing tolylene diisocyanate by which the tolylene diisocyanate containing 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate in a desired isomeric ratio can be manufactured.
The method for manufacturing the tolylene diisocyanate containing 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate in the target isomeric ratio comprises mixing a first diaminotoluene containing 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluene in a first isomeric ratio with a second diaminotoluene containing 2,4- and/or 2,6-diaminotoluene in a second isomeric ratio different from the first isomeric ratio, reacting the mixed diaminotoluene, urea and/or N-unsubstituted carbamate, and an alcohol to afford tolylene dicarbamate, and pyrolyzing the tolylene dicarbamate.
