To provide a method for manufacturing toner by which small-particle-diameter monodisperse toner giving high image quality is obtained at high yield and in which clogging by components of a toner composition is hardly caused in an emulsifying step, and to provide a method for manufacturing dry toner by high-efficiency membrane emulsification with a compact apparatus configuration.
The method for manufacturing toner for electrophotography comprises: dissolving or dispersing a toner composition containing at least resin and colorant in an organic solvent; dispersing the resulting constituent liquid in an aqueous medium to prepare an emulsified dispersion; and removing the organic solvent from the emulsified dispersion, wherein a water-insoluble or slightly water-soluble organic solvent capable of at least partly dissolving the resin is used as the organic solvent of the constituent liquid, and at the stage of preparing the emulsified dispersion, the constituent liquid put on one face side of a membrane material, at least one face of which is hydrophilic, is dispersed in the aqueous medium put on the other face side through mutually independent numerous through holes which the membrane material has.
