Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a vehicle silencer capable of being easily formed without performing complicated welding and machining.
SOLUTION: An intermediate assembly 20 comprises pipes 12 and 14 fitted to baffle plates 12 and 14 partitioning the inside of a silencer and end plates 4 and 6 fitted to both ends thereof. A plate 21 is wound on the outer periphery of the intermediate assembly 20 to form an outer shell 2. The outer shell 2 is laser-welded all around to the end plates 4 and 6. While or after the plate 21 is wound on the intermediate assembly 20, the plate 21 and baffle plates 12 and 14 or the end plates 4 and 6 are laser-spot welded to each other for temporary fixing.
