To provide a water-insoluble ionic vinyl monomer that contains none of metal ions, an organic solvent, and water, is superior in compatibility, moisture resistance, and hydrolysis resistance, and has long-period antistatic effects.
A water-insoluble ionic vinyl monomer represented by general formula [1], where R1 and R2 each represent a hydrogen atom or methyl group, R3 and R4 represent an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or a benzyl group, and X- represents straight-chain sulfonimide anion [(Rf1SO2)(Rf2SO2)N]- (where Rf1 and Rf2 each represent a perfluoroalkyl group or fluoro group) or cyclic imide anion [CF2(CF2SO2)2N]- can be obtained by separating an organic solvent phase after anion exchange reaction carried out in a biphasic system in the presence of both a water-insoluble organic solvent and water, bubbling an inert gas etc., after vacuum concentration, and removing the organic solvent and water, and further adding an ion adsorbent to a water phase during the anion exchange reaction.
