To provide a method of manufacturing a superior solid acid catalyst, capable of effectively using the white soot as raw material which is an industrial waste generated in the process of optical fiber manufacturing by a soot method, having a good productivity, and obtaining a large particle-sized and high-efficiency solid acid catalyst.
A method of manufacturing ZSM-5 includes a first heat treatment in a closed container and then a second heat treatment in the oxygen containing atmosphere conducted after preparing a compound as a template agent represented by the following formula (1) wherein R1-R4 are alkyl groups and X is a halide ion or a hydroxide ion; a silicon-containing inorganic compound; an aluminum inorganic compound; and water so that the number of silicon atoms in the raw material is 5,000 or more when the number of aluminium atoms in the raw material is assumed to be 1. The silicon-containing inorganic compound is a white suit.
