Title:
METHOD FOR MAPPING BETWEEN COLOR SPACES AND DEVICE THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0720841
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for speedy color calibration by mapping the color signal of a device independent color space (DICS) on that of a device dependent color space(DDCS).

CONSTITUTION: Two operations of color area clipping and backward interpolation are synthesized into an inverse look-up table (ILUT) 40 which includes the grid color signal of the DICS as an input signal. Th ILUT 40 is used during forward interpolation and maps a signal from the DICS to the DDCS. A color area descriptor 38 is used to generate the ILUT 40 based on a prescribed look-up table (LUT) 36 including the grid color points of the DDCS as an input signal. Sets of color area boundary points placed at certain angles on a series of parallel planes are determined to generate the color area descriptor 38. If the ILUT 40 cannot be obtained, the color area descriptor 38 is used to perform speedy color signal conversion from the DICS to the DDCS.
