PURPOSE: To easily measure acoustic emission (AE) with good accuracy, by forming a measuring zone in a concrete structure so as to surround the same by a measuring wire material and mounting a sensor to the measuring wire material to measure the arrival time of the minute destruction sound in concrete and locating the generation source of said sound.
CONSTITUTION: A measuring wire material 2 is embedded in a concrete structure 1 in a state folded into a rectangular shape and formed so as to surround a measuring zone 3. Sensors 4 each comprising an AE (acoustic emission) converter such as a piezoelectric element are mounted to both end parts of the wire material 2 and connected to a computer through an amplifier. When primary cracking C1 is generated at first, the minute destruction sound of concrete is transmitted to the wire material 2 to be immediately received by the sensors 4 of both sides and the position of the cracking C1 is calculated and located on the basis of the difference between the arrival times of the sensors 4. Succeedingly, when secondary cracking C2 is generated, the destruction sound thereof is directly received by the sensors 4 through the wire material 2 and the position of the cracking C2 is located without being disturbed by the cracking C1.
