Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a level measuring method and a level control method for stably and continuously controlling the boundary layer level of a molten metal poured in a mold in a continuous casting for double layer cast slab.

CONSTITUTION: This level measuring method for the boundary layer of the molten metal in the continuous casting is the one, which inserts a bubbler pipe 6 so as to position the tip part into the inner layer in the molten steel below the boundary layer 3 and measures the back pressure at the position of the bubbler pipe by allowing the bubbler pipe 6 to be foamed and also measures the molten steel surface level by a molten metal level meter 11 to obtain the boundary layer level based on the measured back pressure and molten steel surface level value. By this method, even in the case of generating the variation in the fluidity of the molten metal at the time of starting the casting or in the upper and the lower layers, the boundary layer level is restored to a normal position in a short time and stabilized and the problem for mixing the molten metals is avoided and also, the precision of the surface layer shell stably forming the boundary layer level is improved.
