Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure an electric discharge heat amount in the case of fusion bonding connecting by electric discharge heating.
SOLUTION: In the method for measuring an electric discharge heat amount, two optical fibers 10 are butted in the state being deviated by an outer diameter from each other its butted part is heated by electric discharge between discharging electrode rods 21, and fusion bonding connected so that the deviation amount D1 is retained. The connection of the formed state that the amount D1 is retained is additionally heated by electric discharge, and the discharge heat amount is measured by a radio (D1-D2)/D1 of the reduction of the deviation by the additional discharge heating is measured. Since the additional heating can be executed plural times for the one connection, various measurements can be conducted by the once measuring step.
