Title:
METHOD FOR MEASURING GROUND VIBRATION VELOCITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2007132854
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a ground vibration velocity measuring method capable of applying vibration by the same condition to a plurality of points of measurement, and obtaining uniform surface-wave survey results concerning the plurality of points of measurement.

A weight pulled up from a ground surface up to a predetermined height is allowed to fall freely and collide with the ground surface. Then a surface wave generated by that collision propagates radially through the ground in all peripheral directions from a vibration generation source 4. A pair of vibration sensors 11, 12 are installed beforehand at each point of measurement M1-M4 respectively. A surface wave having reached each point of measurement M1-M4 is detected by each pair of vibration sensors 11, 12 respectively. For each point of measurement M1-M4, a propagation velocity (phase velocity) Vrm is computed, from a relational expression (Vrm=L/T) between the distance L between each pair of vibration sensors 11, 12, and a time duration T which the surface wave requires to pass that distance L.
