PURPOSE: To achieve a safe and efficient measurement by setting a forming sample to a device, allowing a probe needle to contact onto the sample with a constant load, heating the sample at a constant temperature-increasing speed, and then obtaining amount of displacement of the probe needle.
CONSTITUTION: A sample S is placed on the bottom of a sample holder 2 to allow a probe needle to contact, thus enabling load onto the sample S to be changed by manual adjustment. Also, a probe needle 5 allows press force which is added from a force-generating part to be applied to a force point 5b, thus enabling the sample S to be pressed downward with any load. Further, the sample S is crashed preferably into a particle with a grain size of approximately 60 mesh and is press-formed under a constant pressure and at a constant room temperature by a press piston. Then, the sample S is stored and set into the holder 2, the probe needle 5 is allowed to contact onto the sample S with a constant load, heating is performed at a constant temperature-increasing speed, and change in amount of traveling of the prove needle 5 is measured, thus enabling a standard flexibility curve to be created ad a softening point to be measured safely, efficiently, and with improved reliability including pitch etc. of a high softening point.
