Title:
METHOD FOR MELTING IRON-CONTAINING COLD MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10147808
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a melting method capable of drastically reducing the wear at the furnace bottom and a furnace wall refractory, at the time of melting the supplied iron-containing cold material in a converter having a top-blown lance and a bottom-blown tuyere, in which the molten seed metal exists.

The temp. of molten iron in the melting process is held at ≤1450°C and the consumption of auxiliary raw material is adjusted so that (CaO+MgO)/SiO2 wt. ratio of slag in the furnace at the time of completing becomes in the range of 1.5-2.1 and also, a treatment for sticking the slag in the furnace to the surface of the refractory by tilting the converter body after completing the melting, is executed. Thereafter, the furnace is stood upright, and inert gas or inert gas and powdery material of calcium oxide, etc., is injected into the slag surface from the top-blown lance to stick the slag and the powdery material to the surface of the furnace wall refractory.
