To provide a method for melting metal, which can apply an anti-gravity casting such as semi-levitation melting and reduced-pressure suction casting even to ferrous metals, and also provide a metal melting device therefor.
The metal melting device 1 includes a side wall 4 consisting of a water-cooled segment 4a made of electrically insulated copper or the like, a crucible 2 with a basilar part of a ceramic 8, a high-frequency induction coil 14 wound up at spaces around the outside of the crucible 2, a power supply 16 for supplying power to the high-frequency induction coil 14, the control means 18 for controlling electric power cast into the high-frequency induction coil 14 from the power supply 16, and a ceramic mold 40 located above the crucible 2.
