Title:
METHOD FOR MIGRATING DATA BETWEEN MEMORIES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004213657
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for migrating data between memories, which can migrate one memory data at a time while an operating system enables a system to continuously use the completely same physical address map without requiring total system resources.

The method makes a mark on the data to indicate that a data is in the process of migrating when an acquired specific data is migrated to a new memory location, if a specified access device tries to access to the specified data stored in a first memory location, then the operating system asks the access device to change the access to the new memory location. The operating system prevents the converted access from accessing the converted memory location until the migrated data is written on the new memory location if a conversion of access for the new memory location is executed before the data being migrated arrives at the prior new memory location.
