Abstract:
PURPOSE: To modify acid sodium metaphosphate so as to exhibit excellent solubility and fluidity with low hygroscopicity by granulating powdery acid sodium metaphosphate with a high P2O5 content under specific conditions and providing a granular form.
CONSTITUTION: To powdery acid sodium metaphosphate (with 72-77% P2O5 content), are added 2-15wt.%, preferably 3-10wt.% water as a binder. The resultant mixture is then granulated with a fluidizing gas (air, N2, CO2, etc.) with ≤20g/m3, preferably ≤10g/m3 moisture content according to a fluidized granulating method (the operating temperature is preferably 40-80°C) to provide granules having 0.5-1.0g/cc bulk density.
