Abstract:
To provide a method for modifying cellulose while inhibiting the reduction of molecular weight.
This method for modifying the cellulose is characterized by comprising a process of oxidizing an alkali-treated cellulose or a regenerated cellulose in a neutral or an acid reaction solution containing an N-oxyl compound and an oxidant for oxidizing an aldehyde group.
