Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for degrading or modifying a high-molecular polymer by an enzyme.
SOLUTION: The method for modifying a polyester involves a step for reacting an oxidation-reduction enzyme with the fiber. The method can also involve a step for reacting a hydrolytic enzyme of a carboxylate with the fiber. The oxidation-reduction enzyme can be a laccase or a polyphenol oxidase. The hydrolytic enzyme of a carboxylate can be a lipase or an esterase. The step for reacting the hydrolytic enzyme of a carboxylate is carried out before the step for reacting the oxidation-reduction enzyme.
